It has been more than 2,000 years since archaeologists found a submerged shipwreck in the Mediterranean, and it has already been destroyed and robbed, according to French officials on Wednesday.
In the second century BC, a ship called Fort Royal 1 is believed to have sunk off of Cannes, France, in the Mediterranean Sea.
Amphorae, or clay pots used for transporting wine at the period the shipwreck was discovered in 2017, were taken by divers who entered the ship and smashed their way in.
