Prosecco is probably the Italian wine which is getting the more hype and attention, from NY rooftop parties to summer “aperitivi”. Prosecco is produced in the Nort-eastern part of Italy, between the regions of Veneto and Friuli Venezia Giulia. Here many producers struggle to find room for Glera grapes, which have been shaping the landscape in the region’s hills for the past few decades.
Sometimes compared to French Champagne, Prosecco has little to do with the more prestigious French sparkling wine: its bubbles are more relaxed, easier to appreciate even without a special occasion to celebrate.
That said, many producers, especially in the Valdobbiadene and Cartizze area, are trying to prove that Prosecco can be much more than just an easy glass of sparkling wine. Ancient production methods and innovative trends are bringing the name of Prosecco also to the ears of more sophisticated wine lovers.
