Forest Whitaker is known for his deep character studies. Whitaker’s portrayal of the Ugandan dictator Idi Amin in the 2006 movie “The Last King of Scotland” won him multiple awards, including an Oscar. He’s appeared in movies ranging from “Ghost Dog: The Way of the Samurai,” “The Butler,” and “Black Panther.” He’s currently starring in the new EPIX TV series, “The Godfather of Harlem.”
Oscar-winning actor Forest Whitaker placed his award-worthy Hollywood Hills home on the market again. Originally listed two years ago for $6 million, the two-home compound in Los Angeles is now being offered at a 28% discount—priced at $4.3 million.
Whitaker purchased this spacious property in 2003 for $1.5 million. Even with a price drop, he stands to come out ahead. Built in 1998, the gated compound is perfect for a large family and features a total of 11 beds and 11 baths on 1.66 acres.
The 4,705-square-foot main house opens to a grand double staircase, which leads to the main level with dramatic, two-story ceilings. The open floor plan includes living, family, and dining spaces. The cook’s kitchen features a center island and large walk-in pantry. Walls of windows and French doors that lead to terraces run the length of the house.
The second home on the lot measures in at nearly 2,000 square feet and includes a separate driveway and entrance. There’s a flexible living space spread over three levels, along with a home movie theater. Along with the pool and spa, the outdoor area includes a barbecue pit with multiple dining and sitting areas.
