How to Make French Toast!! Classic Quick and Easy Recipe
French Toast (Plain and Nutella Stuffed)
Ingredients
1. Day-old bread (challah, brioche etc) – Around 10 slices, 1/2 – 3/4 inch thick (You can use regular whole wheat / white sandwich bread but challah, brioche, cinnamon-raisin bread etc works best for French toast)
2. Eggs – 3
Whole milk – 3/4 cup
Sugar – 1 – 1.5 tbsp
Vanilla extract – 1/2 tsp
Cinnamon powder – 1/8 tsp
Salt – A tiny pinch
3. Nutella – 3 – 4 tbsp or as required (optional)
4. Butter – 1-2 tbsp or as required for frying
Oil – 1-2 tbsp
5. Maple syrup, whipped cream, fresh fruits, powdered sugar, honey, butter etc – To serve
Method
1. Whisk the eggs, milk, sugar, vanilla extract, cinnamon powder and salt. Pour into a wide bowl.
2. Heat a skillet over medium heat. Add 1 tsp oil + 1 tsp butter. Dip a bread in the egg mixture for 2 – 3 seconds on each side and place on the skillet. Fry until golden, about 2-3 minutes on each side.
For nutella French toast – Slather nutella on a bread slice. Top it with a bread slice. Dip the sandwich in the egg mix and toast till golden on both sides. Repeat with the other bread slices.
Sprinkle with powdered sugar and serve warm with maple syrup and fresh fruits on the side.
