There’s a bit of a back story behind this French toast. I don’t go to Walmart often, but I was looking for an expensive spice and happened to wander through the bread section and saw this sign. French bread … $1. You heard me, $1.
I walked over, checked out the ingredients, and said, well for a $1 you can’t go wrong, I’ll throw it in the freezer and use it for bread pudding.
Here we are several weeks later and I decided to make something sweet for breakfast… off the cuff so to speak. Just testing out my “from scratch” skills, no real recipe.
I have to admit the French loaf made amazing French Toast. “Good for you Walmart.” This is not an endorsement, but if you’ve got a pretty large family or if you like to make French toast from time to time this might be a great purchase … or at least for as long as Walmart sells it for $1.

Hello everybody!!! Welcome to Denay’s Test Kitchen. Let’s take a virtual food journey around the globe.
I have always been interested in foods from around the globe. My mother’s best friend was from the Virgin Islands, she taught mom how to make Danish Pastry from scratch, and my dad sponsored a man (Raj) from New Delhi; and I can still remember my mom raving about Gulab Jamun, a dish taught to her by Raj’s wife.
