Lieu-dit refers to the name of a place mentionned in the cadaster, the official map of the French territory started by Napoleon after the french revolution, so Lieu-dit wines generally refer to single vineyard or close-to-single-vineyard wines from a specific area on the estate, and often from a single terroir.
