The fame of Egyptian cotton is much like that of Italian olive oil or French wine, where place of origin has become a shortcut for quality. The bedsheets you’ve been using, trying to make your bedroom feel like a hotel aren’t really Egyptian cotton. Check the label and it might say Egyptian cotton but what you might not see is that it is a mixture of American, Indian or Peru Cotton, mixed down with other natural fibers and perhaps a small percentage of the real thing.
