Oakville is one of the most legendary AVAs in the history of American wine. Home to some of the most famous vineyards and winery estates in the country, this Napa Valley sub-appellation is dominated by an illustrious list of storied names from end to end, filled with Cabernet vines growing under the watchful eye of some of the greatest vignerons and winemakers in the world. As one would expect, the average price for a bottle of Cabernet here is as steep as you’ll find just about anywhere.

Lot 795 comes to us from a historic estate founded by a pioneering family with a deep European winemaking ancestry. A big, bold showcase of the phenolic ripeness that folks love and expect from Oakville, the wine was aged in new French oak for just under two years and already boasts an array of gold medals and 91-95 point scores from the big names you’re all familiar with. Napa Cabs have a reputation for leaning more towards the black fruit side of the spectrum, but the uplifted red fruit character of this wine is glorious in its abundance while still possessing all the terroir and classic black fruit backbone of an unmistakably Oakville Cabernet. Simply outstanding, and here at a fraction of the original price!
