Macron panic! PRITI PATEL’s blow wiped out illegal French immigrants.
PRITI PATEL vowed to take resolute action to remove migrants crossing the Channel as she said there was “no reason for any asylum seeker to have to come to the UK directly from France”.
Speaking at the Conservative party conference in Manchester, the Home Secretary pledged to continue to do all he could to stop trafficking operations that exploit vulnerable people. After accusing France of not doing enough to stop the crossings, she said: “With all this, we will continue to pursue common solutions to common problems.
Last month saw a record number of migrants cross the Channel with more than 4,000 making the perilous journey.
18,000 people have made the journey so far in 2021, more than double the total for all of 2020 with three months of the year still going.
The UK has agreed to pay £54 million to France to stem the number of people crossing the border, but Macron’s actions proved uncooperative, as the number of migrants surged to a record.
The funding will help increase the number of French police patrolling beaches and train them to use drone technology to thwart human smugglers’ efforts.
Speaking to a crowded audience on the main stage of the conference, Ms Patel added: “What is happening in the Canal with small boats is unsafe, unfair and unacceptable.
“From the vast camps outside Calais of mostly male, economic migrants, to the horrifying images of people crammed into flimsy boats crossing the Channel, exploited by the mobs. smuggle.
“The vile criminals are characterized by cruelty and greed, they even threaten to drown young children in order to pickpocket their pockets. This cannot continue.”
The Home Secretary said she would “not apologize for securing our borders” and was ready to do everything necessary to block intersections.
Last month, Ms Patel threatened to withhold £54m in funding from France unless there was an increase in the number of boats being grounded.
In a meeting with Tory MPs, she said: “We have not given them a dime of money so far and France will have to act together if they want to see the cash.
“It’s pay-as-you-go and we haven’t seen those results yet.
Mrs. Patel was angry at the French’s uncooperative attitude, they didn’t deserve our money.
“Conditional money.”
The Home Secretary said her “New Immigration Plan” is also taking the necessary steps to prevent cross-border migration.
“We are smashing the economic model of smugglers so that they can no longer profit from human misery,” she said.
“The current maximum penalty for unauthorized entry into this country is six months. We are increasing that to four years.
She said the time it takes to weed out people found to have entered the UK without a legal right here would be sped up.
A strong form of deterrence is being applied by Ms. Patel to thoroughly tackle the French who crossed the border.
