After a 6 and a half hour drive, we arrive in Montreal and check into our Airbnb, we are starving and excited to explore the city, and instead of looking up what there is to do in the area, we decide to go on a walk and see what we stumble across.
Just walking around this city, we feel like we are in a totally different country,…. and that’s because we are. To explain, we have been to Toronto very many times, and although we know we are in a different country there, it also feels and seems familiar to us in comparison to the USA.
Everyone spoke French, and when they realized we only spoke English, they swiftly switch to English with a Canadian accent.
Montreal seems to have retained a lot of the historic buildings, and the architecture around felt like a mix of French and British.. art deco mixed in with the Gothic and the modern buildings.
It was clean, and the people incredibly polite, friendly and helpful.
We find ourselves in a creepy and empty shopping mall underground, and work up huge appetite.
The restaurant around the corner from our Airbnb looks good, so we pop in to have, what we didn’t know then, to be the best meal we had in Montreal.
