Today, we honor the French region of Bretagne with its most famous cake, the Breton pie!
This cake, with its inimitable texture, is dense, crumbly and a delight for dessert or an afternoon snack.
In the past, the baker of the village used to bake it for the inhabitants.
Each housewife was bragging about having the best recipe, passed down from mother to daughter.
The cake had the advantage of being able to be kept for weeks, even months.
Legend has it that the best pastry cooks in the ports prepared this delicious cake, that the sailors would carry in their holds, wrapped in a cloth.
Hope you’ll enjoy it!
Bon appétit 🙂
