In this video we’ll be going over a popular everyday French conversation which is how to talk about wine in French.
Wine is an important part of French culture which is why it comes up quite often in everyday French conversation. However, most classes won’t teach you vocabulary about wine making it difficult to navigate many social situations in France. That’s why it’s important to know phrases, vocabulary and customs regarding wine, bars, and having a night out in French.

Some of the everyday French conversation phrases we’ll go over in this video are l’apéro and what’s involved in this activity, what le vin chaud is and when it is enjoyed, and how to order different kinds of wine at bars. Throughout the video we’ll also give you some fun facts about French wine culture so that you have some interesting knowledge to broaden your everyday French conversation.
We’ll also show you some of the wine related content on the FluentU French platform so that you can learn more about wine in France and expand your vocabulary. Plus I will also share fun stories from my time in Paris like the time I did not know how to say a wine opener or un tire-bouchon in French and how I got used to the drinking customs in France as an American.
Talking about wine in French is not just knowing how to order a drink on your night at the club but rather it’s about understanding an important facet of French culture and feeling more comfortable in everyday French conversation.
