Compañía Vinícola del Norte de España (CVNE or Cune) or the Northern Spanish Wine Company was founded in 1879 in Haro, Rioja. It was founded by 2 brothers and direct descendents still own the winery today.
This wine, the CVNE (Cune) 2017 Vina Real Rioja Crianza was first launched in 1920. It showcases grapes from the Rioja Alavesa province (named after Camino Real), north of Ebro River. A brand new winery was built for Vina Real in 2004
The wine is comprised of 90% Tempranillo, 10% Grenacha, Graciano & Mazuela. It is Rioja red wine so as an Old World wine, consumers are expected to know that the wine is made from Tempranillo grapes. Crianza mean that the wine is aged a minimum 1 year in barrel and 2 years in total before release. This wine is fermented in steel vats and aged in French and American oak for 12-14 months
2017 was difficult vintage in Rioja with heavy frost in April with low yields
