10. Plaza Athénée Maison, Paris
For over one hundred years, The Hotel Plaza Athénée Maison has defined the Parisian luxury hotel experience. The Hotel Plaza Athénée is a Brunei-owned historic luxury hotel in Paris, France. It is perfectly situated on the prestigious Avenue Montaigne, the tree lined boulevard of French fashion with stores such as Yves Saint Laurent, Louis Vuitton, and Chanel. The hotel was opened on 20th April 1913. Hotel Plaza Athénée was named by its first manager, Emile Armbruster. Many artists and composers regularly dines at Hotel Plaza Athénée. Jacques-Léon Colombier, winner of the London Gourmet Prize, was the head chef at the time. The hotel managed to stay open during World War I and in the 1920s it was expanded to include hotel apartments, the restaurant, La Cour Jardin and two salons. It is one of Paris’ eight designated palace hotels and its dining room is considered one of the finest in Europe. Its logo, a chimerical fish radish, symbolizes the importance of simplicity and naturalness at the core of its cooking. The hotel’s catering services are supervised by Alain Ducasse, a French-born Monegasque chef, who then went ahead and obtained three Michelin Stars at the restaurant in 2001. It serves dinner on weeknights and lunch on Thursdays and Fridays. `The restaurant doesn’t serve meat and instead offers dishes made of a “fish, vegetables, cereal trilogy”. There are other options for carnivores like myself such as caviar and fish. The produce for each meal is picked and delivered the morning before it is served. The lunch menu costs $236 while the top tier “Jardin Menu” costs $443, wine pairings not included. The restaurant also has an a la carte menu that you could opt for.
9. Joël Robuchon, Las Vegas
Joël Robuchon is a French gourmet restaurant of the French chef and restaurateur, the late Joël Robuchon who at one time held a record breaking thirty two Michelin stars across his global portfolio. It is located at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas and was rated three stars by the Michelin Guide. The food is served to the patrons by the chef who cooked it. The restaurant has a red and black color scheme, exuding a polished look that screams soul. The menu is diverse and features Asian influences and nods to French haute cuisine. The menu, reflects the expert sourcing that the head chef does and the expert cooking by the resident chefs as well. The restaurant offers a 1,890 bottle wine list.
