Icy April weather has decimated crops in vineyards across France, leaving winemakers facing costly losses and supermarkets short of stock.
Temperatures have plummeted as low as -6 Celsius, killing the vines that had begun to shoot under the early April sun.
Winemakers with insurance will receive pay-outs and the French government will offer some financial support, but for many it won’t be enough.
