you can make meringue cookies without cream of tartar. this recipe of meringue cookies with out cream of tartar includes a substitute ingredient called lemon / vinegar. Even if you want to add nothing to your classic dessert of French meringue cookies, they will still turn out perfect and crunchy. It depends on your baking time and baking temperature.

Ingredients
4 egg whites
200g fine powder sugar
1/4 tsp vinegar / lemon juice
few drops of your favourite flavour. I used Vanilla Essence.
Baking tray lined with foil

Bake at 90°C for 2 hours.
If you are baking 3 meringue cookies tray at a time in baking oven then bake for 4 hours at 90°C

Store in Air tight containers.
