I made my first cup today and it tasted awesome. It is easy to use and I had no problems cleaning it. Id give this 5 stars except Im disappointed that for a $100+ stainless well constructed french press, that the inside finish is not very good.
You can see and feel the machining marks (see photo). I have concerns about the long term effects. Although easy go clean, it seems a good place to trap fine grounds but mainly, it just looks bad for the cost.
Has anyine else seen this? Im debating sending it back as a defect and seeing if a replacement has a better inside finish.
I have been saying it since I wrote the first, independent, official review of the first Espro Press: These make such a clean, flavorful cup of coffee that they make the “traditional” press pot obsolete.
The filter is so effective that once you press, the extraction stops. With the old style presses you dare not drink the last sip because of the sludge at the bottom of the cup.
That sludge add bitterness to the cup. The Espro press filters so effectively that there is virtually no sludge that gets transferred to the cup. These double-wall, vacuum insulated presses not only keep the coffee hot but are also TOUGH!
Dont worry about one breaking when dropped into the sink- worry about the sink!
TIP: to not waste the last bit of coffee, when most of the coffee has been dispensed into cups, while holding the press over the cup as to pour, pull the plunger out about two inches then press it back in.
It will pump most of the coffee liquid out. That tip makes it a bit easier to clean up, but all presses do leave grinds in that need to be dumped out.
The benefit of the Stainless Espro presses is that they are tough to knock on the side of the waste bin without worry. How good are they? Among many other coffee making devices and machines, I lost four or five Espros in a house fire.
One of the first two coffee making devices I purchased was this one. If you do not need to make 32 ounces at a time, try the 16 ounce version. But all their presses work the same and make thesame great coffee.
Even the affordable travel press.
There is nothing I can add to the product that everyone else has not raved about. I use this everyday. It cleans up very easy, the parts are extremely well made, and I have never had one grain of coffee in my cup.
This is well worth the high cost. The fact that the coffee stops brewing once the plunger goes down is extremely helpful. I love it.
This press is a great value–large and insulated. It makes great coffee (assuming you like strong coffee,…
