If you’re looking for an easy apple cake recipe, look no further than our French Apple Cake recipe using simple ingredients that you probably already have in your pantry and your fridge. Apple cake is the perfect dessert for Fall and this French Apple Cake recipe is no exception. It’s light, flavorful and even more delicious when you top it off with a dollop of creme fraiche or vanilla ice cream! From Granny Smith apples to Fuji apples, you can choose your variety of apples to add to the apple cake. All you need is a variety of apples, flour, baking powder, salt, eggs, sugar, brandy or dark rum, vanilla extract and some butter, and you can have this cake ready and served in a little over an hour.

French apple cake is soothing during the cold Fall and Winter months and it’s easy to bake whenever you need to make dessert at the last minute. Once you have mixed the dry ingredients with the wet ingredients, you want to gently fold in the cubed apples into the batter mixture with a rubber spatula to make sure all the apples get adequately coated. After you bake the cake for around 50 minutes to an hour, let the apple cake cool for five minutes before you carefully remove it from the cake pan. After the cake has cooled, you can dust it with powdered sugar and then serve it with ice cream, or for something more traditional, a dollop of creme fraiche.
