Through the years I have been through a number of French Presses (all glass) and while they all eventually ended up cracking and breaking, I never really had any complaints.
After my last Press cracked after accidentally hitting it on the sink I finally got fed up with this ground hog day scenario and decided to spend what I felt was an exorbitant amount of money on a French Press.
After receiving it I couldn’t be happier with the construction and the chances of breaking it are pretty much slim to none.
Besides the build quality I came to find that it’s ability to keep the water hot while allowing the grounds to brew for several minutes is something a glass press is unable to do.
Not for nothing but my coffee actually tastes so much better to boot. I will be buying one of the larger ones as well.
Ive only had this product around a week but have used it about 15 times so far. The comparison between this and my old french press, well theres really no comparison.
This is very well made and the filter combined with the tight fit provides extremely clean and crisp coffee. This may even be a downside for some who like a bit more sediment to make it through – as this will provide none.
For me however, this product is perfect. Note with the polished version it does get water spots (which is normal) however it still looks good , even if you dont wish to spend time polishing it every time you rinse it.
First of all, I got the 17oz brushed option. In my experience, glass presses tend to break easily. This stainless steel model is durable, and the double-wall insulation keeps it hot while brewing.
I think this was the only 17oz press I found that came in a brushed finish. Not a fan of mirror finishes. I got this because the decaf at my work tastes awful and needed a good way to make coffee for myself to fill my 16oz Joeveo mug.
I wanted the smaller size for that reason, and it was important to keep it hot for the Joeveo insulation magic to work. Long story short, I am very satisfied.
I did not notice any of the quality issues that other reviewers noted. The welds look clean and nice. It has a premium look and feel. Its easy to clean.
Theres a bit of friction when actually pressing it, but I assume this is because its stainless steel, as Ive only used glass presses before. I use hot water from the coffee maker at work, and the press keeps it plenty hot while brewing.
I cant vouch for now long it keeps it hot after that, as Im not interested in letting it sit in there with the grounds. I hav…
