Franschhoek is in a remote area, about 94 km’s from Cape Town. In 1713, this area was referred to as de france hoek, because of the mainly French inhabitants, hence the name (French Corner in English), the Hugenots were allotted farms by the Governor Simon Van Der Stel. Rickety Bridge Wine Estate offers 4 star accomodation and is less than 3 km’s from the town centre. Join me as I show you the Hugenot Memorial Monument, only seen from a distance though as it was closed because of the pandemic.
