In this one hour webinar, Richard Lane, journalist and WSET Diploma student, takes you through the large and poorly understood region of the Languedoc in southern France. Once having endured a poor reputation for producing high volumes of vin de table, the region is undergoing a revolution, with a number of innovative new producers taking advantage of cheaper land prices and the Midi’s favourable Mediterranean climate.
With only a quarter of vineyards under appellation, producers have more flexibility in the Languedoc than in other French wine regions to explore what is possible, while AC wines keep a grip on tradition – from Picpoul de Pinet on the Mediterranean coast, to the more historic appellations of Corbières and Minervois, the Languedoc has something to offer everyone.
