**What is it:** 69% Merlot, 31% Cab from atop a mountain right astride the Napa/Sonoma line so that it’s 54% Napa/46% Sonoma
50% new oak for 18 months, 14.4% ABV.
**Price Paid:** $120ish on wine bid
**Nose:** petrichor and crystal clear red and blue fruit. I drink this for the purity and clarity and the explosion from the bottle after pulling the cork was a reminder.
**Palate:** black cherry, blackberry, blueberry, and then a trail of aged oak and stone. It’s simple in flavor but without peer in intensity and separation. Medium-high acid and lower tannin than I was hoping with a steak
**Takeaway:** Napa at its best is a laser beam of the most perfect fruit you’ve ever had framed by oak and earth. This is an exquisite example from one of my favorite wineries and it remains one of my go to bottles for making people “get it”

On a clear day from the winery, you can see Lake Tahoe.
Love their Cab Franc, too. Cheers.
petrichor is a favorite tasting note of mine to call out. i don’t get it a lot. but when i do i feel very clever and neat.
