super thick and opulent. Cali cab lovers Syrah basically? Im missing structure, finesse, nuanced depth but still expressive. With the right food pairing and for the Cali hedonistic crowd probably good? What’s the appeal here at this price point? Can someone please explain?

Haven’t had Cayuse, but Walla Walla Syrah is nothing like Cali Cabs. They are more complex, meaty/bacon fat/olive with more black fruit flavor. The Rocks AVA has a very distinct funk that is polarizing.
Yeah I feel like Cayuse is nothing like Cali cab. All that black olive and rocks funk! It’s not everyone’s cup of tea (I am super picky about Cayuse & the different vineyards) but the folks who love it REALLY love it. (Recommend Bionic Frog if you haven’t had it!)
The intensity will be similar to Cali Cabs but that’s where it ends. Cayuse is funky, olive, brine (plus dark fruit). If you are just in it for the fruit, you might not like it at all.
(These wines also have incredible texture/mouthfeel; they are examples of brilliant winemaking.)
I mean, do you enjoy northern Rhone? It’s basically that. Have you tried with more age?
Add another voice to the “wholehearted disagreement” crowd. I love Cayuse and I love Napa Cabs, but other than the fact that they’re high intensity reds they don’t have much in common.
