2015 Pott Actaeon Double Magnum
Super bright nose of red fruits, cherries and raspberries. Tobacco and red apples.
Cherry upfront with a soft vanilla finish, like a cherry sucker but not as intense of sweetness, herbal almost mint notes with a good minerality. Keep wanting to drink more. Started off drinking this one with a coravin on Friday at our favorite restaurant, Takara in the Castro. It was a big hit and was passed around to a few other guests. Opened the rest of the bottle for today.
2022 Pott Mondeuse Lagier-Meredith Vineyards
Violets and floral nose, dried herbs, petrichor or riverbank smell.
Lots of plum, earl gray, bitter cherry, fair amount of earthyness, mushrooms, drinking like a light syrah. It took a few hours to get to a good spot so it will benefit from more time in the bottle. Opened this on Friday night and gave it an hour to open up after drinking the Actaeon.
2022 Pott Zinfandel Lagier-Meredith Vineyards
Lots of baking spices and black cherry nose and black peppercorn.
Very herbal, peppercorns, over ripe fig, lots of black fruit but not fruity, black berries and cacao nibs. Opened on Saturday afternoon to do yard work.
2022 Pott Syrah Lagier-Meredith Vineyards
Very big herbal nose, basement cellar with cured meat nose.
Over ripe blackberries and strawberries but not jammy. Very earthy, more than the mondeuse. Big on the tongue but not too hot or overpowering. A bit of that cured meat profile along with some mild licorice. Definitely needs more time in the bottle. Opened on Sunday evening with a close friend at dinner.
