My plan is to refinish the treads (more natural, less orange, which I will do with the hardwood too), the whole newel post, and the handrail.
I want to paint the balusters, and I'm thinking the bottom rail and the risers all white.
Does this seem right or would you refinish the bottom rail too?

This might work well.
Your plan sounds great refinish the treads, newel post, and handrail in a natural wood tone, and paint the balusters, risers, and bottom rail white for a clean, timeless look.
