I think It looks great, but I agree, it needs a rug underneath.

Sure. One thing I’ve learned is that it’s ok to mix woods that are not painted. Don’t go crazy, but in my grandmothers house the end tables didn’t match the Grandfather clock or the writing desk, but they were all in the same room.
