Hello! In my previous post I received lots of encouragement and suggestions. It's been a few months and I'd like to check in to ask for more direction and will summarize changes. I find other people's progress photos helpful; I hope you will too.
Dining area:
- sadly, my great-grandparents' dining room table seems unsalvageable and is not my style. I found this gorgeous farmhouse table on FB marketplace instead
- chairs are temporary, suggestions welcome
Living area:
- added a hunting print behind the couch. it's too small imo but it was only $80 on FB marketplace and I love the print so it's possibly temporary
- added iron nesting side tables and my grandparents' brass table lamp
- added new throw pillows
- do we hate the light fixture? it wasn't visible in photos before. when we moved in it was just an ancient fan
- got many suggestions for a larger rug, but instead just pulled it out further
- mounted TV and placed plastic shelves behind the TV to house the Alexa, cable box and Switch so no cords are visible
- lightly styled the console. could use more suggestions! console was free and I made my first attempt at refinishing with moderate success
- to do:
- the room feels too masc for me now. I will be adding some drapes to soften the room and add texture, but where and what remain tbd
- cat tree will be moved out of the visible area and replaced with a plant
this is what it looked like when we moved in, for reference
Sitting area:
- new entryway console table and styling
- swapped around decor and added more color
- swapped out fireplace hardware from iron to brass that we got at an estate sale, it works much better now
- added brass floor lamp
- to do:
- we bought off-white linen roman shades and need to install them
- yes, I know the corn plant in front of the fireplace is deceased due to overwatering. I will get a new plant when winter is over
- I hear you that the fireplace brick is too cool. any suggestions? this update will be deferred in favor of other projects but I'd still like feedback
- need a wall painting behind the floor lamp but I am being very picky
- after adding the brass floor lamp and brass fireplace hardware, the room feels like it has too much brass, and is also a little too femme for me. I'm thinking this mirror (hung sideways) could work while maintaining the vintage feel of the room
- I need a rug between the living room and sitting room and would love some direction here
- still need to supplement wall decor with smaller pieces to help fill up empty space
TIA!

You are good, maybe an 8×10 rug in your colors under dining table unless you dont like a rug, maybe table by front door could be smaller in length and the one you have placed between your couch and wall for decorative items or a small lamp
