Hi all,
First time poster here so I hope this type of posts are okay. And I’m also hoping my request for help doesn’t come off tedious (as it is a small issue but something that’s been bothering me for a while so looking for some advice please).
We bought our house a couple of years ago and out of sheer excitement my husband decided to purchase this sideboard for a generous amount of money. At the time I didn’t mind since we barely had any furniture and we were just excited to be able to buy something and decorate after living in a very small flat for almost 4 years with a baby.
However, as you can see from the photos I’m in a bit of a pickle regarding the TV placement. I have uploaded pictures throughout the last approximately 18 months of the sideboard and TV placements and can’t seem to decide what the best place should be.
At first, we placed the TV on top of the sideboard which was fine but my husband said it looked too busy so last year we had someone mount the TV to the wall (2nd picture).
Unfortunately my husband also wanted his Samsung soundbar up there and it looked absolutely ridiculous (photo also attached). Nevertheless, we had a “discussion” and we agreed the soundbar comes down.
But the TV just looks ridiculous being mounted that high. (Watching isn’t a problem, and I don’t feel my neck crane at all but I’m sure it’s not optimal viewing).
So we decided we will bring the TV down a bit. But my question is – what option shall we go for? I’ve listed them below.
– Shall we bring the TV down about 10-12cm so it’s not too high (and sits right above the white border that goes across the room and subsequently the through lounge? I used to love it until I realise it’s causing this TV placement issue). I’m not sure how I feel about the idea since the cable trunking will be visible and maybe not aesthetically pleasing?
– Another option is to bring the TV down more and remove some of the white border so TV sits just above the sideboard? But again, not sure how this will look …
– I want to remove the border to this side of the room altogether and paint the wall but I’m afraid it will look ridiculous and too different compared to the rest of the room.
– We don’t want to sell the cabinet as it was expensive but sort of feel weighed down by it. If we could recuperate 70-80% of the value of it I wouldn’t be opposed to selling it and actually buying a TV cabinet and not a sideboard.
So I guess my question is – what option would you go for?
Any help or advice would be much much appreciated. Thank you.
