Hi all- I’ve been looking for a dining table and found one at the thrift store today that I absolutely love. The style and size is perfect!
However- I feel like the color/tone is outdated. What are your thoughts on the photos below? Any easy ways to change the color/tone to make it less outdated without having to sand it and restain it?

You could scuff it, use gel stain, with the red shining through and then apply a matte or satin finish. Or paint it with shellac, then use gel stain to create a new wood tone.
Otherwise, no sand and restain.

Refinishing wood isn’t too labor intensive! But I think if you put a green table runner or something like that you could break up the orangey tones.
I love warm toned wood. I think the cool colored and gray woods are going out of style. They’ve been around too long and scream “sad beige.”
I think it depends more on what your style is in your home and what you have around it. For me, this would look awful in my home, and I am not a huge fan or the orange-ness generally But if YOU like it and it suits your home’s decor, it won’t be a big deal.
I’d also add that once you get it home out of the harsh lighting, it might not be so intense. Found a deal on a floor model dining table that seemed too red, went for it anyway and it matched our other furniture almost exactly. So it might work better than you think.
