We also had the 2017 DRC RSV with this flight but I’ll post the pic and notes later.

2010 JJ Confuron Romanee Saint Vivant

This was a bit tight, with some pretty black currant jam and just a hint of spice to go with some earth. The palate was muted but had pretty fruit and ample acidity The finish was long. This wasn’t joyously open like the 2010 Rousseaus.

2014 JJ Confuron Romanee Saint Vivant

This was even tighter than the 2010, with muted aromatics including both red and black currants. Similar tightness on the palate with more acidity, and somewhat clipped finish. Don’t open for at least 10 years.

2014 Hudelot Noellat Romanee Saint Vivant

Much more open than the pair of Confuron, with a more red fruited approach, some wild strawberry and ripe red cherry fruit with rich earth on the nose, and beautiful fruit/acidity balance on the palate opening into a lengthy finish. Great wine.

2017 JJ Confuron Romanee Saint Vivant

Aromatically expressive with beautiful dark currants and star anise. This had an expansive palatescape with more pretty fruits, crisp acidity, and immense power while maintaining lightness. The finish was incredibly long. This was several steps above the DRC for me.
