There is a deep history here. The winery is located near the village of Janas, tucked between the Sintra Mountains and the Atlantic Ocean. While this specific project began in 2013, they are working in Colares a region with a viticultural legacy dating back to the Romans. It is a place of extremes, where vines often crawl across deep sand dunes to survive the salt-sprayed winds of the Atlantic.
This 2022 bottling is a masterclass in the Arinto grape. It was hand-harvested from clay-limestone soils at 200m altitude, fermented in oak, and aged on its lees for ten months. The result is a wine that possesses an almost architectural structure. You wouldn't be misplaced in comparison to Grand Cru Chablis.
There is beautiful tension between ripe citrus, lemon curd, and a deep savory salinity. On the palate, the "electric" acidity of Arinto is front and center, but it’s framed by a broad, creamy texture from the oak and lees aging.
With only 1,710 bottles produced, it’s a privilege to pull the cork on one. It’s rare to find a wine that feels this "cerebral" while remaining so purely enjoyable.
