This is one of the best values you can find in the Trader Joe’s wine section. At $12.99, this is a stylistically accurate representation from this region. And it’s damn delicious.
Appearance: Light rose gold with pink and amber hues
Nose: Ripe red fruits. Raspberry and strawberry leads the way, with melon and floral notes coming through.
Palette: Berries perpetuate. They’re ripe, and if you’re digging maybe even overripe. Like a strawberry that’s spent an extra couple days longer in the fridge than it should have (but in a good way). Floral notes carry over, with a pleasant sweet cherry finish.
The wine is dry, with medium body and medium acid. Lovely on its own, or would pair nicely with grilled vegetables, grilled fish and lighter fare.
Is this going to dethrone Tempier? Absolutely not. But, at this price point, I’d be hard pressed to find a better rose from Bandol. Highly recommend!
