My partner’s father gave me this huge lamp to replace my old one that he damaged while trying to fix it (he kinda just barged in and took my old lamp and put it in the middle of the room and put the big one in its place, not even listening to my disapproval, “it’ll grow on you.” In laws right? 😅 this is what Ill get if I marry my partner. Though, they already seem to be really comfortable w me, lol (at least enough to barge in (we knew they were coming but not why) and move my things around without listening to me 😒
Anywho, rant aside, now that I don’t feel like the lamp was forced upon me I kinda like the aesthetic. I like how it isn’t too similar to the table lamp, contrasts in size and color and kinda anchors the couch in a different way. I also like that it adds more color, character and warmth to the room. It is bigger in person and I don’t like moving it too much- hence, the pictures from different times and lighting (I accidentally nipped the big lamp w the ceiling fan when moving it 😭).
I like the old lamp bc it matches w the table lamp, its pretty, minimalist and takes little space. Its so simple and goes well w my organized and clean style. I have no need for it. I have so many lamps in my apartment (I kinda have an addiction) and if it goes then I have to get rid of it. I hate having clutter (currently cleaning, hence the pile on the floor by the tv). I kinda don’t want to depart w my old lamp but I have no issue w it in order to relieve my anxiety. Either way, one of them has to GO.
Each lamp gives the room a very different vibe.
What are your thoughts? Which look do you like best and why? Which lamp should I keep?

I’m sorry, which lamp are we looking at? And which pic is old vs new?
I do like the big new lamp it’s cozy 🙂
I definitely prefer the new, gifted lamp! As you said, it does add more warmth to the room and brings that corner together. I am a fan of different style lamps in rooms myself, it adds an interesting and cosy dynamic. The lamp looks lovely there.
Your room is very calming!
First is much calmer and inviting
