We had been wanting a cellar for some time. But out house layout never pointed to an obvious solution.

I finally selected this under utilized interior corner by the stairs as a workable solution. At first we were just going to build a corner cabinet, but it didn't fit our inventory when I planned it out. Expanded it to fit the entire space and voila.

My vision was an old world chateaux cellar. With the right pieces, and a bit of old artist trickery, it turned out better than even I expected. An antique wooden door from Egypt, rehabbed, widened, and fitted with double planed glass. An antique Spanish iron sconce found on Marketplace an hour away, plastic brick wall stickers stained with an antique glaze, and a lot of poplar boards and days of cutting/finishing.

Holds about 400 bottles. I built a shelf on the lower right for wooden cases. In the old world line of thinking, I've found my root veggies/garlic potatoes last much longer sitting on a wine crate in the cellar than they do in the pantry and give me some natural humidity.
