Style is probably modern heritage, we have a decent amount of inherited pieces. We also live in a wintry/mountain place but I don’t want the cliche mountain look. Picture is an example of one of the art pieces that will probably make it up in this room.

I would do a hand scraped dark walnut plank floor. Cream or olive green walls and a neutral color oriental type rug.
Wide white oak floor, real wood. no curtains.
