Enjoyed while celebrating the birthday for a dear friend.
Was a little closed off initially, gave it a long decant and drank over two hours.
I continue to believe 2017 is an overly-maligned vintage. I've had some solid wines from good producers in this vintage and perhaps it suffers from comparisons to 2016 and 2019, but Napa can be more consistent than we believe.
Picked up notes of dark cherry, plum, blackberry, some eucalyptus as well. Less so the graphite I get on other vintages of Cain Five.
Still grippy tannins and good acidity.
I have a feeling this needs a few more years
