I understand in US of A this sits in the very competitive branch of $30-$50 Oregon Pinot. I paid about $65 USD for this in Australia, for context.

Immediate debut of black cherries and underbrush emanating from the glass. With some air, ripe strawberries and this aroma that reminds me of semi-dried rose petals wedged between book pages (iykyk). Little grilled mushroom there too.

Such fine tannin structure that I imagine come the stems (some whole bunch here I’m guessing) and not heavy new oak use (I should look this up), quite delicate already at 5 years. The black cherries carry through from the nose and sit centre stage. The acidity is sitting well against the grain of the fruit. Not a powerful wine, but very poised with appreciable depth if you take the time to look. The finish is squeaky clean. It’s old world leaning, stylistically more restrained than the Australian Pinot I’m use to which generally have very concentrated and powerful fruit profiles.

Everything is very neatly packed here, it’s drinking very well right now but wouldn’t wait much longer.
