Was lucky enough to find this bottle on First Bottle Wines. Pricey, but seemed worth taking a flyer given the pedigree and the locatuon
No regrets, this is a lovely wine that is still very young and will likely get better over time.
Gave this an hour of air in the bottle, then decanted and drank over the following two hours.
Enjoyed with dinner at La Bicyclette in Carmel.
Initial taste pretty tannic and tight, but the decanting and swirling really helped open this up.
Picked up dark cherry, plum, blackberry, graphite, pencil shavings, slight eucalyptus, somewhat painty on the palate (in a good way).
Nice acidity as well.
Long finish, I can still remember the taste the following day.
Paired well with the Margherita pizza.
Approachable, but very young, I'll look forward to having the next bottle in a few years.
92+ points.
