Delightful Grignolino. Archetypically pale and rust-tinged in the glass despite its youth. Almost the color of clarified blood orange juice. Highly aromatic nose, with a spiced hard apple cider the predominant impression. Distinctly smoky on entry, but then bright and lifted red fruit with tart acidity on the mid palette. Then a strong bump of grippy tannins and a savory finish of good length.
It paired well with a Caesar salad and a sausage orchiette pasta.
I found this a couple of weeks ago at a local wine shop. I think I paid around $25. I’ll be heading back for more.
