My living room just feels weird to me. Doesn't feel like anything works, doesn't feel cohesive, and doesn't feel cozy. Can anyone help? We do occasionally host family, and I have 2 kids. I just want something better for it.
I like this space a lot, but you’re right, it needs help. That help will be colors. Pick a set of colors, you can find these in many department stores, and repeat them, in throws, pillows, artwork, table setting, etc. Color is what’s missing.

Area rugs with colour. Plants. And could you put your tv in front of the small window, and rotate the couch to face it or would that look weird?

Ah, unfortunately the “too many neutral colors” bug got you in the living room. Sparkle it up with a colorful rug, throw blanket or decorative pillows. Add some life to it with some greenery of plants. Also, your walls are pretty bare. Maybe add a few more pieces around your TV. I like the idea of having a mirror on that one part of the wall that sticks out, but I’m thinking you need a mirror that fits the wall, instead of an oversized one.

Everyone already hit on colors so I’m just going to sneak in textures too. Nothing helps amp up the cozy factor than a couple of cozy textures. Soft squishy cotton or faux fur or some chunky knit. I don’t know there’s tons of options. Also more plants can help a space feel more cozy and inviting.
It’s too cohesive imo but the furniture and layout setup is perfect

A longer mirror that fits that wall to replace the round mirror. A warmer lamp shade next to it to the right. Replace that mini corner shelf with a tall plant. Maybe a fiddle tree or some type of dracaena/corn plant. Something taller rather than wider. Under that window, maybe a low wooden book shelf with bright book covers. Add art/paintings on either side of the tv wall. After those changes, circle back and consider replacing one or both of the rugs with a warmer/neutral color that would tie it in.
To add: put either books or trinkets that actually make you happy on that shelf built into the couch. Not random things, though. That basket next to the speaker/tv – what do you use that for? I would put a chunky blanket in there folded nicely that you would use while on the couch or that guests can use.

Plants, colourful wall art, different rugs, throw pillows, fuzzy blankets, candles, warm light lamps
