I prefer a brown paint stain for a more natural and traditional element. Partner prefers charcoal gray for a more cohesive and modern look.

I stand on your side. I think dark brown is perfect

I vote brown, I think doing grey would dull the area. brown brings a warm tone to the rest of the grey around it.

Anytime someone in this sub asks “Gray or [literally any other color]?”, the other color is the answer.

That brown reads ‘alive,’ where the gray is ‘cold.’ That’s the difference. The brown is a lovely contrast with the pool’s cool blue, where the gray is just adding more ‘cool’ to the look.

I would think gray would make the fence look old and not in a positive way.

I vote Forest Oak! It will elevate all the colors that are in the backyard.

  7. Darker colors can make rooms/yards feel claustrophobic. If you plan to keep your current lawn furniture, I would stain the fence a lighter shade in that same color family. (Pale teak?)
