
And when I opened the bottle, I could see why. As soon as the crown cap was removed, the cork started slowly coming out. Basically they tried to use a cork for a still wine with a sparkling wine, and couldn't keep the corks in the bottles, and so capped them. (It's a a Pet Nat Moscato Giallo called Espontáneo from San Miguel de Allende, Mexico.

Many European beers are corked then capped, they probably adopted the idea from brewers
