Wasn't expecting to drink a single good wine yesterday, ended up at the right place with the right friends and we opened amazing after amazing bottles.
Viña Tondonia Rosado 2012: pure muscle, vanilla, blonde tobacco, roses and other potpourri flowers, wild berries, extra creamy on the mouth, would be fun to drink this in fifteen years. Was a bit more on the really bold white wine style than on the light red.
Oeno P Tria Ampelia 2022: My favorite white grape made by one of the most mythic producers on Santorini Island. Smoky reductive pineapple, sunflower seeds, burgundy style. Full of tension, a bit compact, hay, lemon peel confiture, salty. I love these wines.
La Rogerie Le Bourg Sud: precise Champagne. Some creaminess to it, bright acidity, lemon curd, smokey, fragrant. Alsacian people making Champagne. What else to say.
Johannes Aufricht Blanc de Blancs: This was an infanticide, but what a beautiful one. There's something about Aufricht sekts that's always so beautiful and easy to recognize on the nose. It doesn't try to be a Champagne, and that's exactly the good part. Full of lemon, tense, chalky. It needed at least one year more on the bottle.
Clos Rougeard 2019: we were emptying the last bottle when someone said "Should we do one more?' And then the owner of the place, who's also a friend opened a fridge at handed us this beauty. Of course we should do one more then. I've had CR a few times already but it never fails to work out for me. Rustic leather and espices, pepper, fluid dark fruits, tobacco, a bit evolved on the good way. There's a reason why this wine is a myth.
What a nice night.
