I'm just getting into making my house a home.

All the furniture in this picture is hand me down and I honestly am getting sick of it.

For more context, my wall only extends maybe a foot from the edge of the left shelf and on the right well you can kind of see in the photo but it's a corner wall which has a leaning mirror on it.

I would ideally love to get rid of the shelves. I feel they look thrown together and honestly I just hate the style.

I know my center consolé is too small for my tv (or so they say on tt) but I'm doing with that I have. Anyway

I want to get rid of the shelves and just open up the living room but I don't know what to put in place. I rent so I can't tear up walls or do anything permanent

I've seen inspiration images attached obv

But I don't know pls help

If you don’t need the shelves to hold anything, sell them. Wait a bit with them gone and see how you feel about the space. You don’t have to fill every inch of wall with something.

Try slowly curating things like the inspiration photos. Should be able to find a sideboard like that one relatively easily & they’re not too expensive depending on condition. The accessories can be collected over time at flea markets etc. In the meantime I agree the shelves are overwhelming, so removing them will lighten the space.🤍🪴
