My ceiling light never gets used because it’s too bright and doesn’t match the vibe of the rest of my apartment. I wanted to get something to cover it up like a Tulip shade, but the metal pipe its connected to prevents that… any advice???

Just replace it. Its probably not as hard as you think. Store the old light and put it back when you move out.
I think it’s cute, if its too bright put dimmer bulbs in it
