We did our big empty nester purge last year and settled into a condo. I’ve never unpacked a house so fast! I can see so many things to change, but I’m happy with what I’ve managed to put together!
Here’s my list of what to work on, I’d love suggestions!
– fireplace and lack of mantle. My least favorite area of the room. It’s got a family portrait hung there, but it’s all wrong. I want to install a mantle for sure.
– my husband’s collections: physical media and commemorative glassware. They are going to be out and on display, so I need to find better display furniture. My mother and I made the console table over a thanksgiving weekend, but over 10 years later it doesn’t quite fit anymore.
– art on the left wall: I painted the lilies about 15 years ago, and I still love them, but they aren’t right for the wall. I have a plan for a large water color, but it’s going to take awhile for me to finish
– the tracked drapes: truly the worst part of the room. They came with the condo and are heavier thermal than anything I can afford right now. I’m crafty enough to remove the backing and sew it to prettier curtains, but what I really want is sliding wood panels. They do a wonderful job regulating temperature though!
Edit: textiles too, pillows and throws
