Planning to redo this bathroom, remove the tub, expand the shower wall to wall. Redo tile, paint, mirror, lights, etc. The vanity matches the rest of the house (and we like it), so wanting to keep. Suggestions on what kind of colors/palette we should be looking at? We want to come away from the beigey feel.

Also, while it might be out of style…we’re thinking it might be cool to change the window (which needs replacing regardless) to a glass block type. Add privacy, keep natural light. Color blocks and asymmetrical style kind of like pictures 3/4?

  1. I think the glass blocks would be super cool! You can really go whatever way you want color wise. I would find a piece of art you like for over the towels and pick out the blocks (the blue in the picture is great!) and then just paint and accessorize around that.

Personally, I would never in a million years part with that tub but a giant walk in shower room could be cool. Can you make it act like a steam sauna?

What’s the vibe elsewhere in the house? Glass blocks lend a more groovy vibe, so if that’s mirrored elsewhere, definitely pick it up! They’re on their way back in, so I’d say don’t let any concern around popularity shape your decision.

Agree on the artwork idea. You could also explore tile for your shower. If you find something you like, run with it! If you’re totally lost, look in your own closets. Find colors you both wear a lot, you’ll love them on the walls.

If you’re exploring window ideas, you could also check out fluted or other textured glass. We recently put fluted temporary film on our bathroom window and were surprised by how much privacy it provided!
