First off smelled like a fruit bomb. Tons of black fruit; plum, blackberry, black cherry. Got the typical cassis and anise spice that Malbec is known for. Some black liquorice as well.
Deep, dark red/off purple Garnet color.
Pretty cool blend (if you can call it that still).
100% Malbec, but the percentage split is from different elevations which is neat.
60% from Colome Vineyard 2300m,
25% from El Arenal Vineyard 2700m,
10% from Altura Vineyard 3111m,
5% from La Brava Vineyard 1700m.
Relatively lean for this kind of Malbec. More medium plus, than full body that I was expecting. Nice fruit, more plum, liquorice and spice. Nice tobacco and oak. Finish is a little lacklustre, but very good none the less. Paired very nicely with a chipotle maple grilled pork tenderloin and baked veggies!
