(don’t mind the mess) want to go for a gothic look was thinking a red shade perhaps but not really sure about what i should do in that small dip in the wall next to the stair let me know what you think thank you
For gothic I’d lean deeper than a straight red – something like Sherwin-Williams Antique Red or Benjamin Moore’s Heritage Red. Or if you want full drama, an oxblood (SW Heartfelt or BM Sangria) reads gothic without becoming a Halloween aesthetic. The alcove next to the stairs is actually a gift for this style – a small floating shelf with a few curated objects (a candle sconce, a dark ceramic, maybe a piece of carved wood) gives it purpose rather than leaving it as an awkward dip. If you can add a small recessed light in there, it’ll look incredible at night.
