Coming from drinking a lot of Chianti Classico, this makes more sense now having a 100% Sangiovese.
Nose:
Cherry, tobacco, dried thyme & oregano. Big salinity running through it — ties everything together but gives off a real stock cube / Aromat seasoning vibe. Hard to ignore on opening, settles a bit with air. Slight vegetal edge there too.
Thought there was a touch of VA at first, but it leans more balsamic with air. Some mushroom and tomato leaf as well. Alcohol might be pushing the acidity slightly.
Palate:
Sour cherry and earth upfront. That salinity and dried herb character carries through.
Young and a bit unbalanced, but still enjoyable. Alcohol is high — warming, and it carries the finish a bit. Everything feels slightly unintegrated.
Lean, not light. Decent structure but a bit hollow through the mid-palate. Acid leads and nothing really steps in to round it out — tannins are a touch soft, so it comes across slightly sharp.
